What Our Customers Are Saying
Chrissy S.
We stopped in to view the homes they had. We are about 5-6 years out and Tom, the salesman we talked to knew that. He gave us excellent advice on what we should be looking at, how to look at it to make our final decisions down the road. He took his time sitting with us even though they had people walking in that could have been a sale, but never once made us feel like we were a hinderance to him. We believe we have found our forever home with them and we were so very appreciative of all the information Tom gave us. We are looking forward to working with Tom and his team down the road. If you visit Future Homes, ask for Tom!
Response from the owner:Thank you for your kind words! We're so glad Tom was able to provide helpful advice and make you feel supported—no matter your timeline. It means a lot to know you may have found your forever home with us. We truly appreciate your trust and look forward to working with you when the time comes. Tom and the team will be ready!

We had a great experience working with Future Homes to build our house. All of the people we interacted with were very professional and hard working, while also being human. Nate kept me well informed on what was going on throughout the process. Brian did a great job helping us design the home. Andy managed the actual construction smoothly and efficiently. (I felt he treated it like it was his own home he was building.) Kenny walked us through the process with kindness and honesty. And as we settle in, Suellen has been great with getting minor fixes taken care of. When you're taking on this large of a project, you want to feel like you're in good hands. And we certainly did every step of the way. Thanks to everyone!
Response from the owner:Thank you! We enjoyed working with you as well. Enjoy!

Southbay Developers, Inc., now Future Homes, finished construction of my home in October 2021. Ken, Keith and Cyndi were all great to work with. The expectations were always clearly discussed and documented. Ken has years of experience as a builder and was always willing to answer my questions and explain next steps. Southbay completed a one year "punch list" where they came out and addressed/repaired anything I found that needed attention. I am very pleased with my home and would definitely use them again. Highly recommend.
Response from the owner:Thank you Lee!

We were treated with respect, from beginning to end.
It was our first time designing a home...
Nate was our project manager through all the steps of construction and Kenny was the business contact for the design process who got us started with explaining everything and how the flow would be for us. The whole project took 8 months for us from empty lot to getting the keys...if we can give one word of advice for anyone who wants to design their own home, a) it is an awesome experience and b) be as prepared for the process as you can be. It really helps everything along and the more work you put into it on the front end, helps the timeline tremendously.
They were patient as we flipped designs around, moved this wall this way and that door that way. The fireplace was an awesome addition and the whole design gave us the windows looking over the river at sun rise.....and the front porch looking at the sunset.
The home is exactly what we wanted...we love the house. Nate, Kenny and their entire team (a lot of people were involved), were awesome. We cannot fault any part of the process and overall we had a great experience with them and would absolutely.... recommend to a friend.

Disclosure: I am a professional, large project coordinator, which means I work with contractors and subs all of the time. My experience with Future Homes has been the following:
1. Communication is timely and regular. Your hand will be held the entire time in a way I've never seen;
2. All contracting was very clear - no B.S., no gotcha's;
3. All drawings, prints and renderings were in large pdf format. We saw exactly what we were getting every step of the way. If we didn't like the location of an outlet, cabinet or fixture on a drawing, they would change it and send us a new drawing;
4. Quality of construction: Future Homes partners with a quality, manufactured housing factory. The construction is of excellent quality;
5. Remedy: To err is human. When errors or defects were pointed out, remedy was instant.
Conclusion: Any construction project is stressful. Building your own home compounds the stress. Future Homes takes the edge off of building a home. Thank you Nate, Brian, Kenny, Suellen, et. al. You're the best and should be proud of your achievement!

What a difference a mile makes! Visited “custom Homes” down the road from here and was met with “ YOU CANT LOOK WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT” as well as “ you talk over me and won’t allow me to speak” from the owner of the company. This was after he was trying to tell me what my wife and I wanted was custom! CUSTOM the first word in his business name!!! Lol. Anyhow we drove down the road and found this builder who had a welcoming staff (Nate) who managed to multi task greeting us while serving other customers and invited us to freely without signing waivers or getting the third degree to simply look at the beautiful model homes on their site. My wife and I are excited to work with these fine people when we find our lot. They earned our business!!
Response from the owner:Thank you! So glad Nate was able to show you around. We want everyone who visits us to have a good experience. We are ready to go to work for you!

Want to say a big thank you to Future Homes! In a little over a year, we were able to go from our first walk-in to the show room to moving into our beautiful new home. Future Homes houses are state of the art and very high quality. The main reason the process was so fantastic was working with Kenny Vollrath. During the sales process, he was patient and walked us through all the options. During construction, he was very responsive and kept us up to date and helped worked through any issues. And not just for the construction of the new house, but for demolition, the permits, the septic, the driveway, etc. They are truly a full-service organization with the staff and contacts to do a great job. Thanks again to Future Homes. We highly recommend them.
Response from the owner:Thanks Trudi! We hope you’re enjoying this summer.

We lost our home on the river from hurricane florence. We decided to build higher and future homes guided us and continue to guide us through this endeavor. It has been a long and very emotional journey and the hampstead team at future homes have been very understanding and sympathetic with our situation. Every hurdle that came up they jumoed over without hesitation. Yesterday we were able to witness our house being placed on our 15 foot pilings. It was amazing to watch. The entire crew was very polite, professional and explained what and how they were doing the job and none of them wven took a break until the house was completely in place, even in 90 degree heat. We still have two to three months to go to be able to move in, but if things keep going the way they are now , all of our expectations will be exceeded. The professionalism, courtsey, attention to details and friendliness from future homes can not be beat. If anyone is thinking of building a new home, and doesnt use future homes, they are making a big mistake
Response from the owner:Thanks Ken! Your home looks great and is coming along nicely.

Brent and his team made my home building experience exciting and fun. I've been to other modular builders in the area, but I was not impressed with their models, nor their professionalism. Brent actually took the time to study the floorplan that I brought into our first meeting, and actually made it better. After that, I scheduled a factory tour at Nationwide Homes, and was amazed at the quality craftsmanship that go into each home. You will not be disappointed in choosing Future Homes. All of my friends and family are amazed that my vacation home was factory built, and completed in 1/2 the time of other houses at Topsail.
Response from the owner:I hope you're enjoying all the adjustments we made. How's the view?

We got the keys to our new home less than a week ago. It is absolutely fabulous!! Kenny and Future Homes were fantastic to work with. Real down to earth people that listen and explain things every step of the way. They are like family to us. Their willingness to please and accommodate is unsurpassed. Our on-site foreman, Jackie, was also very helpful and a pleasure to work with. If you are thinking about building a new home, do yourself a favor and visit them first. We talked to three general contractors who "stick build" the conventional way, before we visited and talked with Future Homes. Don't waste your time...go see Kenny at Future Homes.
Response from the owner:Thanks! We hope you're doing well.
